This is bad news for a lot of people, especially those who were employed by such airlines, and the other hand, the Aircraft Stripping companies have seen their workload almost double, and their profits rise. Usually 80% of an aircraft is recycled, and use to make electronic devices, such as Mobile Phones. The average aircraft takes around 8 weeks to take apart, with the interior being stripped down first. Each engine, which is also taken off first, can be used again, and can be worth up to $3 million each.
Their is also another problem for Aircraft Strippers, the more aircraft they strip down, the less money they get for each part, because they are flooding the market with the parts they strip out. The more parts that come onto the market, the cheaper they become, and the less money they make.
2010, is expected to be an even busier year for these companies, and with the recession on going, it's likely more Airlines will cease trading.
