The Food and Drug Administration has now reversed it's decision on Bisphenol A, a chemical which is found in plastic bottles, food containers and soda cans, and many other household products.

The FDA, now has major concerns that Bisphenol A, may cause Cancer, Heart Problems, and also the development of Unborn Babies, and Young Children.

The FDA is now looking at banning Bisphenol A, but they now need to do more in depth tests on the product. Joshua Sharfstein, deputy commissioner with the FDA, will now conduct targeted studies of Bisphenol A. The 2 year study will make sure that the chemical, which is used to harden plastics, is safe for use on household products.

If the FDA, had the power to stop the use of Bisphenol A immediately, the effect on the Plastics Industry would have been devastating, with over 6 billion tons being used every year.
The FDA knows it has to be careful, but are jobs more important than the health of our nation?
