Iowa's Cedar River has burst it's banks, causing mass water damage to nearby areas.
Officials have said that it will be at least four days befoe the water starts to subside and pumping out can begin. The local water supply is also at risk of becoming contaminated.
An estimte of 24,000 residents have been driven from their homes, most of them taken up shelter, or seeking cover out of town with family members.
